Josephine Kelly- 1978 Weaving & Knitting and Rebirth of A Nation

Coqualeetza Cultural Education Centre presents a compilation of the 1978 film and the 1990 interview of the processing of wool, traditional Salish Weaving and Salish Weavers. The original film from 1978 has Josephine Kelly and family, Nora Peters, Martha James, Marge and Dennis Charlie demonstrating the processing of wool; sheering the sheep, washing, teasing, carding, spinning and dying of wool as well as weaving on a Salish loom. Twelve years later in June 1990, Rebirth of a Nation TV Series with Josephine Kelly is interviewed by Sandra (Bonner) Pederson. This interview is an update on the current activities of the Salish Weavers and an overview of the original 1978 film regarding the processing of the wool and weaving.
